And that looks to kick off a week of frontal weather and more showery periods for the west coast, to round out a wet month for the SWLD. The frontal activity becoming stronger next week with rainfall likely to increase in frequency and intensity.
Inland areas of the SWLD look to get away with mostly fine weather over the coming days but rainfall chances increase from early next week with a deeper layer of moisture likely to descend once again from the Indian Ocean setting up another cloud band.
Lets take a look at what is ahead.
12Z GFS Surface Pressure Pattern for the coming 16 days
The next wave of frontal weather is expected to develop from Friday with frontal weather developing from the west. Some widespread showery weather expected with the front but more likely south of Perth. Then another front coming in during Saturday with again more showers expected further south of Perth and along the south coast. Then frontal weather will increase early next week with the rainfall becoming more widespread along the west and south coasts. Then a stronger system developing later next week with a cloud band increasing in response to the moisture deepening from the Indian Ocean which may increase the cloud cover and areas of rainfall for inland areas.
12z GFS Rainfall for the coming 10 days
Rainfall increases for the coming 10 days with showery weather increasing over the southwest coast from tomorrow then extending to remaining SWLD during early next week with a strong cold front setting up the unstable westerly flow. Another large scale system mid to late next week could bring up rainfall chances from the Pilbara down to the southern interior with a moisture in feed.
12z Euro Surface Pressure Pattern for the coming 10 days
Euro is more aggressive with the frontal weather out west over the week, especially with the systems mid next week with areas of rain thanks to a moisture in feed across the state. That may bring more widespread inland rainfall, after a dry few days coming up. But coastal areas has a chance of rainfall every day during this period. The rainfall more widespread as track through next week so no washout expected this weekend.
12z Euro Rainfall for the coming 10 days
Rainfall spread is largely unchanged. I will be watching that moisture offshore closely as we saw with this system that brought another half to one months worth of rainfall, it wasn't until two days out that we saw rainfall numbers increase. That may be the case once again as we see the models come to the table with linking the moisture up to the frontal weather that is increasing over the west of the nation next week.
Rainfall for the coming 10 days.
Rainfall largely unchanged once again as most states are under the same pressure pattern for yet another week, with widespread falls about the western and southern coastal areas. Rainfall could be moderate at times as the frontal waves continue to pass through with moisture also starting to surge southeast from the Indian Ocean during mid next week. That will lift rainfall chances for inland areas. That will be a system to watch as it could be quite productive.
