A quick update ahead of the PM forecast analysis and packages.

The rain has commenced over western NSW and northwest VIC. Reasonable falls of 5-10mm being observed through parts of SA already with rainfall ongoing. The rainfall bouncing around Adelaide where they have seen light falls.

The rainfall is spreading east today, slowly, and is now becoming more extensive over the Mallee and Lower Western. The band is expected to move into the Riverina and parts of northern VIC tonight and the remainder of NSW west of the divide and northeast VIC on Friday.

5-15mm of rainfall looks fair for many areas.

The rainfall may linger into tomorrow night over the GDR and southeast areas west of the divide.

The wet weather ramping up this weekend with a series of cold fronts passing over southeast Australia.

Euro 18z - Precipitation for the next 3 days.

The precipitation is expected to be a little more widespread with the lead low pressure system and the rain band is a little more extensive over western parts of NSW with light to moderate falls. That rainfall looks to get a kick along as it approaches the central and GDR regions with the PW values remaining elevated. The rainfall may stick around through the GDR range ahead of front passing through during Saturday.
