MAJOR WEATHER EVENT POSSIBLE FOR THE NORTHWEST WITH CYCLONE ANIKA.

There is more data supporting a classic March WA cyclone, with Anika moving into a favourable environment in the coming days over the Indian Ocean, churning offshore before turning towards the Pilbara Coast.

Some modelling supports a major cyclone (Cat 3 and above) forming offshore before turning south towards the coast as a frontal passage over southern Australia acts to pull the system south.

Significant rainfall is possible from the feature as it moves through the inland.’

Here is the latest guide, and anyone living on the northwest coast should watch very closely. This system could reach Cat 5 status if it is allowed to.

Latest track data - note the pink and purple shading, the system could reach Cat 4-5 under those solutions.
