A shift to high pressure dominating the nation with colder air drifting in behind a cold front that has brought showery weather to the southeast today has got a nice little pool of colder air behind it which will time itself to move over the southern and southeast inland leading to widespread frost being a feature for your Monday morning and indeed frost to come throughout the week.

Severe frosts are possible during Tuesday and Wednesday morning over the southeast inland.

Frost Forecast Monday Morning.

The frost risk is moderate to high through pockets of southern and southeast inland areas of the nation with a lower chance in the mauve shading. The frost is likely to feature more prominently over SA, about elevation through the southeast and in areas protected from the southerly flow that is moving north overnight. Conditions becoming sunny and drier as we move through Monday morning so the frost will not last long.

Severe Frost Risk Tuesday and Wednesday

These areas need to pay attention to frost tending severe during Tuesday and Wednesday morning with temperatures lowering to -5C in some areas over the SE of NSW and NE VIC and possibly over the Central and Northern Tablelands. Areas in blue could see temperatures for a period lower than -5C through the overnight periods.
