FLOOD RISKS REMAIN HIGH FOR OUTBACK AREAS TODAY AND THE EAST LATER THIS WEEK.

A reminder that if you live in a flood prone area, low lying area etc, you will be at risk of flooding over the coming few days. In saying that, not everywhere will be under water, but the risk is broad and hard to define ahead of time. With thunderstorm coverage being random and scattered from today, where the flash flooding occurs, it is likely to be occurring over saturated catchments, so riverine flooding will be easily achieved.

Already we have non severe thunderstorms in a band north of Canberra back to the Upper Western and we can see heavy rainfall already underway in this zone. There is also heavy rainfall over the southern parts of the NT and northern SA as well as pockets of eastern WA.

Some of your apps may not have updated this morning, which is a peril from time to time, but the overall guidance has remained unchanged on all the data sets I have reviewed this morning.

Review your official flood watches and warnings in the coming days and make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings from the BoM. I will continue to update these charts and analysis as fit, but really we are now at the beginning of a high end rain event. Final preparations should be made now.
