FLASH FLOOD RISK INCREASING IN THE COMING 2 DAYS

Heavy rainfall expected to increase in coverage over the coming 1-2 days for Southeast QLD and Northeast NSW east of the GDR.

A trough is expected to amplify through the inland and that will support the increase in rainfall, but as it is drawn in via the northeast winds, it will run into terrain and this is where rainfall rates could become intense with dangerous flash flooding possible.

Daily rainfall of 100-200mm possible with some areas expected to exceed that if the trough deepens closer to the region. Some areas could exceed 400mm in the space of 2 days leading to a renewal of Riverine flooding.

Refer to the state based forecasts for more analysis.

Stay weather aware and the risk of dangerous flash flooding is greater than 50% in the dark blue zones within 25km of a given point which is very high probability.

Keep up to date.
