Another trough is expected to bring the rainfall back through southern inland QLD and the southeast later Friday into Saturday this week. Perhaps a few showers along parts of the QLD coast during mid to late week with a weak onshore flow, otherwise, it is back to a dry picture for most during the next 10 days.

An active westerly winter pattern is expected to form next week following the weekend rainfall which is expected to drive the forecasts drier and cooler with cold nights and sunny days.

Lets have a look at the rainfall spread for the event later this week first then my forecast.

GFS 00z run - Next 10 days - Valid Monday 5th of July 2021.

Rainfall returns Friday and into Saturday over the southeast but it quickly clears with a dry airmass coming into the eastern inland Sunday as the westerly wave pattern develops to the south.

Euro 00z run - Next 10 days - Valid Monday 5th of July 2021.

A very similar spread in the models tonight for rainfall over southern QLD with that clearing out quickly on Saturday and drier cooler weather to follow through the outlook period.

The pattern turns wintry as I have pointed out in many postings tonight and that means the weather turns dry and cooler for QLD with little rainfall in the absence of northwest cloud bands. At this stage, there is nothing expected from that part of the world for QLD during the next 10 days, but that could change after this viewing period.

GFS Surface Pressure Pattern and Rainfall distribution for the next 16 days - Valid Monday 5th of July 2021.

Note the moisture that is flirting off the northwest coast of Australia, it will eventually spill down into a front during the coming 2-3 weeks. Whether it brings rainfall to the eastern inland is possible but I would be keeping an eye on trends if you are living through inland QLD.

Rainfall for the next 10 days - Valid Monday 5th of July 2021.

A low confidence ring for the rainfall over southern QLD applies due to the nature of the rainfall not set in stone meaning that these falls could increase or decrease dramatically in the coming days. So standby. Showers along the east coast remaining light and possibly about the north coast of the NT next week, but otherwise dry throughout, but keep an eye on that rainfall shield over the outback of SA and NT during the coming week or so.

And temperatures next week, while dry through our region, they will be below average for many, especially later in the period and into the following week as well, so farmers be aware of that shift in conditions.

GFS 00z - Upper flow pattern at 18000ft for the coming 16 days.

Above our heads showing the deeper colder and unstable air rotating through the southern half of the nation including parts of QLD. These anomalies will mean colder weather to continue for a number of days.

Temperature Forecast for the period June 12th to 19th 2021..

A period of below average temperatures are expected to fill the eastern inland next week and may persist after this period.
